Isabelle at 2 months

Photobucket

Two months have passed since our family of four became five. Yet I can hardly remember what life was like before baby Belles was in it. She is such a dream baby, and the fact that she hardly does anything is rather refreshing after a day with the other two. Her gummy smiles make my day, and though she gives them freely it's taken me weeks to get one on camera (see picture below). She sleeps like a champ, and I am a happier mommy now that I can get 7-8 solid hours of sleep at night. (Well, I would get that much sleep if Savannah didn't get up every night.) Her only vice is that she spits up profusely, but I am managing that by keeping a pile of burp cloths near by after a feeding.

Isabelle rarely cries, and when she does she is easily comforted. The only time Isabelle has cried inconsolably since birth was the afternoon of her 2-month checkup. Her shots must have been bothering her, because she screamed for 30 minutes and nothing I did would quiet her. It broke my heart to see her react that way; I have never had a child be so miserable after their immunizations. But true to her good nature, she fell asleep a little while later and woke up happy as could be.

Here are the stats from her checkup:

weight: 12 lbs (81%)
length: 23.5 in (89%)
head circumference: 15.5 in (68%)
personality: perfect!

Perceptions

Logan brought home an "About My Mom" paper from preschool for Mother's Day. Probably the best Mother's Day gift ever.

About My Mom
How old? 21 [So I was 16 when you were born...]
How tall? 22 ft.
Weight? 22 pounds [I'm flattered.]
Dress size? really big [Scratch that.]
How many brothers and sisters? a lot
Where was she born? San Diego [Correct!]
Favorite food? all the fruits
Favorite TV show? commercials [What?!]
Favorite thing to do? clean up her room [I do enjoy a clean room.]
Best friend? Uncle James [Interesting...]
List a talent? making cookies and presents [I make a mean chocolate chip cookie.]

So there you have it. All you ever wanted to know about me and more. I have a feeling the next several Mother's Days are going to be my favorites. :)

Seriously?

Savannah is at a very destructive age. Combine that with her natural ability to cause me grief and you get a rough couple of weeks months. In the past few days, she has:

- emptied an entire spray bottle full of water (thank goodness it was only water) in her room, including her bed, play kitchen, carpet and window seat cushion.

- gotten a comb stuck in my hair so badly I had to rip it out, losing several chunks of hair in the process.

- pulled all the clothes out of Isabelle's closet for me to find in various locations throughout the house.

- emptied half a container of baby wipes when I asked her to bring me one.

- filled every sippy cup she owns full of water then left them with lids unscrewed in places where they are likely to be tipped over.

- emptied hotel-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion all over the carpet.

- crumbled an entire loaf of zucchini bread throughout her bedroom and play kitchen.

- colored on herself and her cousin with highlighter.

- stuck one of Logan's legos up her nose.

The last one was a real kicker. She came to me telling me something was wrong with her nose. When I finally though to check if anything was up there, I could see the distinct shape of a lego way up in her nostril. We finally had to take her to our PA neighbor where we pinned her down and extracted the lego with tweezers.

Sometimes I just wish I knew what was going on in that little head of hers.
